Mémoire Extrait de Parfum

We formulated this perfume for Olfactory Art Keller's open call for minimalist fragrances. Our idea was to create a fading nuance of a scent — something tangible that became artificial, the real becoming unreal. 

From the hundreds of starting points, we gravitated towards two natural ingredients: Spanish lavender and Mate NHS. Each has a bright floral presence anchored in this known quality. It is something that you recognize. But in a simple formula of only musks and ambers, these top-note heavy natural oils break down, and the headspace changes into the artificial. 

Notes: Hand-crushed lavender flowers and mate tea extract wrapped in a wave of ambrette musk and karmawood. The top notes are floral and inviting, but as time passes, they decay into notes of benzene and wax. 

Style: A non-perfume, perfume.
