GRAVE

01 — Patchouli
Wet soil after rain, a square of dark chocolate held too long on the tongue. The deepest of the three, and the slowest to settle.

02 — Guaiyl Acetate
Smoke caught in old wood, a leather-bound book left too close to the fire. Warmer and rougher than the patchouli beside it.

04 — Boisé
Bare wood, sanded down past anything decorative. Where Grave settles — dry, exact, unadorned.

AIGU

03 — Gingembre
Fresh ginger split with a thumbnail — green, hot, a flash of citrus at the edge. The brightest and most immediate of the three.

05 — Elemi
Resin still weeping from the bark, cut through with lemon and black pepper. Lifted, resinous, a little unruly.

06 — Maté
Steeped leaves, bitter and green, the smoke of a gourd passed hand to hand. The most vegetal and alert of the set.
